| ZM2380-3G 3G/GSM/GPRS modem for A1700 meter |

ZM2380-3G is an industrial grade UMTS 3G/EGSM/GSM-GPRS mobile communication modem.
It is fully compatible with the footprint of Elster A1700 programmable polyphase energy meter. The modem is enclosed in the meter cover once installed. It is designed to support WCDMA 3G data, GSM CSD (circuit-switched data) and GPRS data.
The operation of CSD and GPRS is fully transparent to meter protocol between the central station and the meter.
In 3G data and GPRS operation, the modem works with the Socket Server Zsocket 1 to ensure a “Always On” TCP connectivity to allow the modem periodically report its IP address as well as other information to the central station so that a reliable IP link is available for remote metering. The modem is equipped with a temperature sensor, a digital input for meter alarm, and an optional RF module.

ZM2380-3GR is equipped with the optional short range RF module in the ZM2380-3G 3G/GSM/GPRS modem. The RF module is designed for a short range wireless connection between ZM2380R and other devices with RF module in the same frequency band and protocol. The short range wireless connection can overcome the coverage problem of GSM network in some critical meter room locations.

PS1700 is an industrial grade AC Adaptor designed for supplying stable DC power to communication device such as ZM2380 GSM/GPRS modem or RF MIU. It is fully compatible with the footprint of Elster A1700 programmable polyphase energy meter, where the AC adaptor is installed at the I/O module slot of the meter.
PS1700 incorporates stabilizing facility to ensure the DC power supply sustains the GSM burst transmission in large current. Digital Input interface is available for connecting grouped meter alarm from the meter relay output terminal.
LED indicators for DC power and meter alarm are available on board.

| ZM2388 RF Bridge |

The RF MIU operates in license free spectrum at UHF RF band to allow wider communication coverage than that of Bluetooth, where the RF communication distance is up to 400m compared to 10m of Bluetooth Class II that PDA or smartphone equip with.
It enhances the accessibility in meter reading and to reduce the potential risk if the meter is installed in hazard area such as dog-bite site. However, most PDA are enabled with Bluetooth only without facilities to accommodate RF module, an RF Communication Bridge ZM2388 is designed to bridge the communication between PDA and RF MIU by switching Bluetooth spectrum to license free UHF RF band.
It is working with Zodicom ZM6280 and ZM6382.

| ZM6380 Data Concentrator Unit |

The ZM6380 is a microprocessor-based Data Concentrator Unit (DCU) designed especially for remote data reading of clusters of electric meters. This DCU incorporates an MCU running on Linux platform to provide multiple communication interface options such as LAN, LTE 4G, NBIoT, WCDMA 3G, HSPDA, GPRS, LoRa, Short Range RF, RS232 and RS485 serial connectivity in order to ensure two-way meter data communication in a reliable, efficient, and cost-saving manner. A variety of protocol sets are also available to support different meter standards adopted by various manufacturers.
When set in DCU mode, the device will periodically poll readings from a cluster of meters, compress and encrypt the data before saving them to local storage and simultaneously as backup to an SD card. Upon request, the packed and compressed data files will be efficiently transmitted to a central server.
This DCU can double as a Modbus converter for energy conservation purpose in Building Management System (BMS). When in Modbus mode, the ZM6380 will serve as a bridge between BMS’ Modbus protocol and the IEC meter standard used in the electricity sector, enabling active remote monitoring of energy usage in various locations within a commercial/industrial facility. Data collected through the Modbus converter are analysed for energy efficiency measures. The overall risk and maintenance costs are thus kept in check. Should there be a surge in loading demand, the system will identify the source of issue and tailor a solution to pre-empt the facility from being charged the maximum tariff rate.
In addition, the ZM6380 can connect to different sensors and meters through RS485, LoRa and Short Range RF for IoT system implementation. LoRa and short range RF module slave devices are available for connecting the sensors and meters. The slave module can be connected to the sensors and meters through UART, 4 ~ 20mA current loop and other interfaces.

| ZM6280 Short range RF module for A1700 |

ZM6280 is an industrial grade UHF band short range RF module for wireless data communication between the electrical energy meter and the electronic meter reader devices such as ZM2388 and ZM6380GR.
The module is connected to the electrical energy meter through a RS232 port. The operation of RF link is fully transparent to meter protocol between meter and reader. Data communication is controlled by software in a RISC MCU so the devices must be working in pair or with ZM2388 or ZM6380GR.
